Priscilla + Phil's Romantic Happily Ever After in Atlanta, Georgia
They fell in love traveling the world and couldn’t imagine a life without one another
We’re coming up on Priscilla & Phil’s anniversary (YAY! Congratulations you two!) which gave me the perfect reason to reflect back on one of the earliest weddings I did under my own company. Have you ever heard of the phrase “right place, right time”? Well, P+P’s wedding planning opportunity became just that! Back then, I was still working full time in a corporate event planning position and my wedding planning company was only just a side hustle. I had known Priscilla’s brother, Ricardo, for some time, as we had both worked at a startup together and then coincidentally moved over to the same corporate company. Ricardo and I had grown to become friends and when he learned of my side gig he was so supportive that he decided my services would be the perfect wedding gift to his newly engaged sister, Priscilla and soon to be brother-in-law, Phil.
I was extremely flattered to have been given such a wonderful compliment and was so excited to work with my first official “referral”. I will never forget the early stages of helping them dive into their wedding dreams and beginning to shape their day to fit their personalities. Priscilla worked for an airline and Phil was in the military, so they definitely wanted to incorporate all the places they had traveled together, especially since it played a huge role in how they fell in love. So we agreed on a minimal travel theme and began to bring all the pieces together from inspiration around the world. From tables named after countries they’d been to together, centerpieces created by an assortment of travel books, and confetti cones for the grand exit made from old maps, the travel theme was carried throughout the entire event. My personal favorite decor piece was a glass globe with etched continents that worked perfectly for their guests to sign as a keepsake.
I learned so much from this wedding and am forever grateful to Priscilla, Phil, and Ricardo for trusting me with such a special day. Now, whenever I look back at how far I’ve come, this wedding marks the beginning of that journey, as it became the day I quit my corporate job and officially began working for myself. I will cherish it always. Cheers to us and our one year anniversaries!
